With my luck, 47 OPKs will not get me through a full cycle. Not only do I test several times a day (not because I was told to, but because I am an addict), with several different brands, I am known to have extremely long cycles after stopping fertility meds; but, for now, this is a good start.
I am kind of excited to see how my body reacts with out the help of meds. A part of me wishes we were still monitoring my cycles with blood work and ultrasounds, but at the same time, I am kind of glad that we're not. I am sick of knowing too much during my cycles, and since this is a rest period for us, it is important that I just focus on the OPKs, temps and plain ol' desire!
The test yesterday was negative. However, since I have PCOS there was a slight line but not one worth noting. It was, in reality, a total negative.
Does anyone else with PCOS have a hard time with OPKs and having the LH surge present at all times? It is a real pain in the ass for me!
You are definitely ready! Every time I buy feminine products I curse them...and hope its the last time for 9 months.
ReplyDeleteI am ready for a normal cycle for sure! Lets hope I don't have to repeat this photo in a couple weeks!
DeleteI want the chocolates!!! lol Good luck this cycle!
ReplyDeleteYes I do have the same problem with OPKs... I like the wine in the background!! :)
ReplyDeleteI hate/love OPKs and I LOVE wine!
DeleteWhen I was just using the cheap internet OPKs, I had a really hard time figuring out when it was truly positive. I would have "positive" OPKs for days, so it made timing things correctly difficult. I bought the Clear Blue Digital OPK and use that whenever I start having positives on the cheap OPKs to pinpoint my exact day. I still typically have positives with the digital one for two days, but that's better than the 5 I was having with the internet ones!
ReplyDeleteReese's of all kinds are one of my favorite candies!
I use the line test and then to make sure use the digital as well! ;-)
DeleteI would have a + with the line test on CD 6-- ugh, ya right! That was a false +.. stupid PCOS!
The Reece's were more for my DH than myself! He might need them! I'll have the wine.
Yep, that stockpile is right on target (and from Target, har har har)! I hope you get easily read positive OPK's this cycle! I'm completely opposite and have way short un-medicated cycles. Either way is ANNOYING! I hope you have a great weekend peeing on things and drinking that wine! I'll be enjoying my last free to drink like a fish weekend :)
ReplyDeleteHa ha! I hope that we both have great cycles... and that you get to start your next round soon!
DeleteI like the addition of chocolate and wine! Have you looked into the clearblue fertility monitor.I think it tests for estrogen (or something) in addition the the LH surge. You can only use it once a day, though. It's programmed for you to test at the same time each day. It's nice because it tells you as you are getting close to ovulation and not just yes or no. Though, I don't have PCOS so I am not sure how it would work for you.
ReplyDeleteI have heard that the monitor isnt that great for PCOSers. I have not tried it though.
DeleteI used the monitor this cycle and it missed my surge by ten days! Thank god for opks! I will use it again next cycle to give it one last chance. If it fails me again it will be given to my cousin. She doesn't have PCOS so it'll work for her.
DeleteSo yeah it doesn't work well for those of us with long cycles.
Good luck this cycle!
I don't have PCOS, but why are you testing a couple times a day? Wouldn't just once a day work and if you start to get the surge it will be captured the next day?
ReplyDeleteI test a couple times a day because I am nuts! Picking up a surge with PCOS is hard. PCOSers metabolize the LH hormone quickly and since it can be in the system all the time, it is super easy to get a false positive.
DeleteLooks like you're all set! I've taken a mental note to add wine and chocolate to my list if/when i have to take another trip.
ReplyDeleteHope all cooperates and you have an easy time testing your surge! I've read it's best to test in mid afternoon, but who knows if that is accurate or applicable to all women.
Enjoy the break from clinical monitoring...I have found it refreshing!
I always test in the afternoon and I usually go off that test result. I test a couple times a day sometimes when I don't trust the concentration of my urine.
DeleteI am looking forward to the break, for sure!! ;-)
DeleteLove the wine and chocolates! Hope you enjoy both ;)
ReplyDeleteI plan on it! ;-)
DeleteSo my nurse was told me not to test more than once a day with the opk. She said that if you do multiples in one day you can get a false positive. Why, I have no idea! It doesn't make sense to me. if you are not ovulating wouldn't it just be negative and if you are it would be positive? I mean, isn't that the whole freakin point of the opks???
ReplyDeleteI think I test multiple times simply because I am nuts! I didn't and don't normally test more than once, but for a while there I was having a hard time having enough urine in the afternoon- I don't drink enough throughout the day. Bad, I know. Then I started tested more than once a day because I had purchased a kit of20 that needed to be used in 30 days-- so I used them up and started a bad habit! I have only been testing once a day these past couple days!
DeletePCOS will almost always give you a false positive at some point. The LH hormone is always in my system!
Good luck. Let's hope that's enough to see you through. All pee sticks are frustrating but I much perfer the ovulating kind to the pregnancy kind, at least I am know I will two lines, even if one is faint, at some point if I just keep peeing. At the best part, some of them have smiley faces on - I have yet to see a pregnancy test with a smiley face - hmmm....some one should write to first response!
ReplyDeleteI hate HPT. I like OPK for the fact that I might actually "pass" that test- I always fail my HPT. ALWAYS!
DeleteGlad to see you got some treats to go along with your lady products. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd love your semi-professional unprofessional (lol) advice on my OPK's from last cycle.

I think I have PCOS but my doctor won't test me for it yet.
I have two lines on every single test I take in the mornings, just slightly different colors. It's so frustrating!
Jennifer, for some reason I can't link to your blog! I would love to help you out!
DeleteHmmm that's weird. Can you try finding it through my main page? www.itsjenniferjuniper.com

The post title from the one I'd love your advice on is "OPK Reading Trials".
I'm still new to blogging so I don't have many posts so it shouldn't be too hard to find. : ) Thanks so much!
Gosh, I still can't find it! Can you try to email it?
Deletewherethebleepisourstork@gmail.com
Found it! Wow, that was weird!! I am following you now!
DeleteYay! Thanks so much! :)
Deleteexcellent combination of purchases. i love the chocolate in the middle of it all.
ReplyDeleteChocolate is the glue that keeps me together! ;-)
DeleteI do not have PCOS but I couldn't imagine the mind-f that is associated with seeing a line on your OPK but knowing it isn't legit.
ReplyDeleteOn a positive not, I LOVE the combo of items you purchased <3
It is a mind-f for sure! I prefer blood work!
